A sharp-dressed man: Cool summer kicks

Although the sharp-dressed man has been silent for sometime, do not get discouraged readers. I have been on the horizon looking for items to make your summer even hotter!

I tend to become engaged by one of my favorite things: shoes. In the summer months, regardless if you are attending a backyard BBQ or a pool party, you want to arrive in cool shoes so that people take notice of your presence.

The shoes I have become attracted to as of late are men’s high tops. These are amazing, like your first time…in a store (wink!). They range in texture and color, from leather to cloth, giving the wearer an array of choices. I tend to prefer black and grey shoes because you can pair them with anything. Plus, in the club scene or at a rock show, when you walk out, I can bet you a Corona they will still be black, whereas the other colors might not be able to stand up to the tough streets of Austin! What I recommend is using a heavier shoe for your downtown romps and something lighter for a day by the pool, or while throwing back margaritas on a patio in South Austin.

”So, sharp-dressed man, where do I find these shoes?” you ask. I will give you the low-down so that you will be ahead of the game. Austin has cool shops, such as Urban Outfitters on the drag, where these shoes range from 50 to 80 bucks. You also can visit a new store called Nice Kicks on 2815 Guadalupe St, which just opened in March. This store offers shoes of all types, but specializes in kicks such as high top sneakers.

With that said, what are you waiting for? Go out and get some new kicks. The ladies and guys will check out your new kicks as you dash by. I will bet that when you walk into your next summer party or club, someone will comment, “Cool kicks!” Then, you can tell them the sharp-dressed man says thanks!
