On November 9th at 7 p.m., UT Alumnus, SaulPaul, also known as a “Musician with a Message,” will be awarded the University of Texas Young Alumni award. He was selected from among several esteemed candidates in recognition for exceptional achievements within their profession and in society since graduation from the University. SaulPaul was chosen to receive the 2012 Young Alumni Award through the University of Texas Black Alumni Network and will be recognized at the Legacy Celebration to be held during the University of Texas at Austin homecoming weekend festivities at the Etter-Harbin Alumni Center.
SaulPaul’s journey has taken him all the way from prison to graduating from the University of Texas with honors. He now gives back to the community through his poignant lyrics, live performance, powerful life story of transformation, and providing mentors through S.H.I.F.T. program with the African American Men and Boys Harvest Foundation. Part rapper/part singer-songwriter, SaulPaul is an entertaining artist who blends his voice, his unique approach to guitar, and his looper pedal to create mesmerizing music.
Since returning from a twenty-one city national tour, SaulPaul has also created a platform to showcase those who mirror his own passion for making their dreams a reality and inspiring others. Thus, he created the Dream in 3D project which launched this fall with more content to be released in the spring. Along his travels he has met many inspiring entrepreneurs who have been be selected to share their story of how they stepped out of their comfort zones to create their “dream job” and make it a lifetime profession. The Dream in 3D Project is an initiative dedicated to seeking out business and community leaders who have turned their passion into their profession. Through the website, www.WeDreamin3D.com, people of all ages can connect with people by sharing their stories of success and empowering the next generation of dreamers and connecting dreamers with an audience to share their realized dreams with.
The first monthly showcase of dreamers includes Austin’s own, Monica Peña, who partnered with her husband to build Escobar Construction. As a recipient of the Austin American Statesman Social Media Award for her work with Escobar Construction, she has continued to use her skills as a freelance business marketing strategist to grow other companies as well.
Other featured dreamers set to be featured at www.WeDreamin3D.com include Vincent Borel, co-founder of WebDoc, Whitney Chamberlain , owner of Smilebooth, Jane Hill of Ant Hill Live and Chris Grant of No Ego Clothing Line.
The full scope of the “Dream in 3D” project includes the website, www.WeDreamin3D.com, an iTunes and android game app set to release in December, a live acoustic album by SaulPaul featuring songs inspired by select “dreamers” and SaulPaul’s book entitled Dream in 3D set to release nationwide in December.
