RISE: Helping Austin entrepreneurs take off

7:09 am by admin Leave a Comment

A Relationship and Information Series for Entrepreneurs, or RISE, is a nonprofit forum that enables entrepreneurs of all stages, ages, and interests to meet and share ideas that inspire the entrepreneurial spirit. Energetic, innovative, and ambitious, the conference is unique in that it allows anyone to host a session, each capped at 25 attendees, anywhere in Austin.

RISE is looking for entrepreneurs and innovators to be part of the new Multicultural Entrepreneurs Series. This is a great opportunity for you to host a session and take part of this new, innovative series. The conference is intimate, free, relevant & inclusive; and the Multicultural Series intends to demonstrate that entrepreneurs come from all walks of life.

Returning to RISE 2010 are the popular Hispanic Entrepreneurs Series and the Austin Women Entrepreneurs Series, both introduced last year.

Session topics range from business basics, such as public speaking and marketing, to the city-specific, such as Austin’s entrepreneurship scene and emerging social capital market.

The conference takes place from March 1-5, 2010, with five full days of free sessions covering a wide range of topics of interest to aspiring, new, and established entrepreneurs in all industries. Hosts and participants can now register online at www.riseaustin.org.

This year’s keynote speakers will be Blake Mycoskie, founder of TOMS Shoes, and Red McCombs, founder of McCombs Automotive, co-founder of Clear Channel Communications, and a former owner of the San Antonio Spurs, the Denver Nuggets, and the Minnesota Vikings, but probably best known by the younger generation as the namesake of the University of Texas McCombs School of Business.

“We are reminded in times of crisis that the American economy thrives when small businesses and entrepreneurs thrive,” said Red McCombs. “RISE is such a powerful way to connect them to what they need most to succeed – knowledge, resources and one another – and a great example of what the entrepreneurial spirit can achieve. I’m proud to be part of it this year.”

Designed for entrepreneurs by entrepreneurs, RISE was conceived in 2007 by Roy and Bertrand Sosa, co-founders of NetSpend and the MPOWER Group. Since then, the conference had doubled in attendance every year.

If you are interested in hosting a session, or would like to share ideas, please contact Armando Rayo, Vice President of Engagement at Cultural Strategies, at [email protected] or 512-785-0447.
