On Aug. 29, the Capitol City African-American Chamber of Commerce (CCAACC) board of directors named Natalie Madeira Cofield new president and CEO. The board appointed Cofield based upon her expertise in economic and business development, program management and public affairs.
The CCAACC was looking for a fresh, youthful new leader who could keep the Chamber at the forefront of Austin’s booming technological and art savvy populace. With her impressive background, Cofield is expected to embrace these communities and sustain future growth for the organization.
Juanita Stephens, Chair of the CCAACC Board of Directors, stated, “Ms. Cofield brings a breadth of knowledge and experience that will help to elevate the Chamber and its members. We are thrilled and excited to bring her on as our President.”
Prior to her appointment, Cofield served as President of NMC Consulting Group, a DC consulting firm practicing in business development, public affairs and program management. While at NMC, Cofield worked with several nationally renowned organizations including the United Negro College Fund and the Merrill Lynch Foundation.
Commenting on her new role as president, Cofield stated, “Austin is a bourgeoning market that has received considerable national attention. I look forward to expanding the Chamber to keep pace with the growth and demands of the city and it’s African-American business community.” Cofield is expected to increase public relations initiatives to keep the community aware of the Chamber’s accomplishments and events.
The CCAACC works as an advocate for the creation and expansion of African-American businesses in Austin. Members benefit from referrals, partnership opportunities, seminars, technical assistance and marketing. Among their members are Austin Community College, Austin Independent School District, Austin Police Association, and many others.
Founded in 1982, the CCAACC is now approaching its 30-year anniversary with the grand opening of its new location and visitors’ bureau. For more information about CCAACC visit www.capcitychamber.org.
