The Heritage Society of Austin hosts 20th Annual Heritage Homes Tour

The Heritage Society of Austin (HSA) host the 20th Annual Heritage Homes Tour on April 28th. The event will feature Judges Hill, Austin’s original city neighborhood established in 1851. Judges Hill showcases wonderful historic residences nestled under Heritage Trees with views of the Capitol dome and Austin’s glittering downtown skyline. The tour will highlight the restored interior of an Austin landmark, a renovation and addition featured in TRIBEZA, Metropolitan Home and HGTV’s What you Get for the Money, as well as other prominent landmarks and buildings. Judges Hill is bordered by Rio Grande Street, 15th Street, Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd. and Lamar Blvd.

Along with the homes tour, HSA has offered an educational lecture series that included Heritage Trees by City Arborist Michael Embesi and Historic Interiors by Candace Volz, ASID. The last lecture will be Saturday, The Ghosts of Judges Hill: A Neighborhood History by Phoebe Allen at the Kozmetsky House for free to tour ticket buyers with limited seating.

Heritage Homes Tour will start at 10 A.M. to 4 P.M. on Saturday, April 28, 2012 with

McLendon Rectory- 1603 Pearl St., Austin, TX 78701

For over fifty years, the Heritage Society of Austin has been Austinʼs oldest and largest preservation non-profit group, with the stated mission of promoting the recognition and experience of Austinʼs diverse cultural heritage through the preservation of historic treasures and places. Since its founding in 1953, the Society has made grants and loans of over $2.8 million for restoration, education and other projects. Society programs include the Heritage Homes Tour, Pioneer Farms, the Preservation Awards Ceremony, and ongoing advocacy and educational tours and events for our membership and the public.
