A resolution denouncing neo-Nazis dies in 36 seconds

Abbott spares life of convicted unmate

Texas Gov. Greg Abbott on Thursday spared Thomas Whitaker from death row hours before his scheduled execution. It was the first time a Texas governor has granted clemency in more than 10 years and 140 executions. Florida governor calls for new safety plan

Florida Gov. Rick Scott on Friday called for a $500 million school safety plan that would keep guns out of the hands of mentally ill and underage buyers. NAACP sues Homeland Security for ending Haitians’ protected status

The NAACP is suing the Department of Homeland Security after a temporary residency program was cancelled that allowed more than 58,000 Haitians to live and work in the United States.
