As I am writing this it is currently 8:06pm Central time and Brett Favre is still retired.
With the news coming out of Minnesota that Brett has texted some of his now former teammates that he is done with pro football. ESPN blew the story out of the water when word broke. Could this be the real deal? Could Brett be done with football forever? I like to ask the question, what does he do now?
I like to place odds on things. Heck I am a sucker for Vegas. For example you can follow me over at the University of Texas page and find my latest slide show, “Preseason College Football Top 25: Las Vegas Odds Edition”. So for this column, I am going to put odds on what Brett will be doing come September 7, when his former team-the Minnesota Vikings- take the field in New Orleans. Have fun with this list and feel free to make some prop bets with your friends, co-workers, or family. But by the time I am done writing this column Brett maybe back in the NFL and on his way to Vikings training camp. But for now he is retired.

Brett Favre comes back to the NFL and plays for the Vikings: 2/1
This I put here as the best odds for your money. I mean how many times have we seen Brett pull this stunt? Actually he has done this twice to be exact. Could this be three times the charm? But every time Brett has said that he was done and retired he has not come back to that team. So the new question is, if the Vikings do not want him back, where does he go?
Brett Favre joins the FOX NFL pre-game show: 5/1
This I can see if Brett is actually retired. Jimmy Johnson is gone, (I believe) off filming Survivor. Who better to fill his spot that Favre?
Brett Favre joins the cast of the next season of Dancing with the Stars: 10/1
His ankle is hurt, yes I know that. But let’s face some facts here. One, he loves the attention. Two, he is a house hold name. Three, DWTS always has an NFL player on during their season. Four, the show airs on ABC, which owns ESPN. And five, Warren Sapp could make a nice cameo during the season.
Ed Werder and ESPN host the Decision part 2 with Brett Favre: 18/1
Come on deep down inside you would love to see Brett in Frog Patch, Mississippi with the Boys and Girls club and Ed Werder. Here Brett can announce his plans for the season. Personally, I would love to hear Brett say, “At this time I’m going to take my talents down to Southern Mississippi”. You would watch it just like you watched Lebron make his decision.
Brett Favre comes back to the NFL with the Green Bay Packers: 25/1
This is a long shot. Heck, I should have given this a lot longer of a shot. But what a way to win back the love of Packer Nation by accepting the back-up role he should have taken. Plus what happens if during one of the pre-season games Aaron Rodgers blows out his knee? Does the Packer front office give Brett a call and ask him how hurt his ankle is?
Brett Favre announces his intentions of joining the cast of Deadliest Catch: 50/1
The show follows fishermen as they go out during King Crab season. He loves to fish and I am sure the show would love to have the ratings boost. And he needs something to do everyday now, so why not have Brett pop up on this Discovery channel show?
I’ve made a lot of bold and out-there predictions just right now. I hope you liked some of them, or that they put a good idea in your head to make some money off of someone. If I had to put money on any of these I’d say bet on Brett joining the FOX Sunday morning cast. With Terry Bradshaw, Howie Long, and Michael Strahan he would fit in perfectly.
So I am finished with this column and it is now 8:48pm Central time and Brett Favre is still retired.
