With the release of and upcoming tour for their new Album "Sunrise: A Song of Two Humans," I met with My Education to get a history lesson on the evolution of the band that makes it what it is today. If you are familiar with today’s sound of My Education - - entirely instrumental, characterized as “cinematic, mildly psychedelic” and compared to the likes of Mogwai or Explosions in the Sky--the origins of the band couldn’t be farther from where it is today. Diversifying SXSW
Just last week, it was announced that the Austin History Center will be hosting an exhibit on “The 25 Year History of SXSW” from February to July 2011. The girls were visited by local rockers Maneja Beto and interviewed them on the camp talk show, Camp Chat, to be broadcast on Latinitas' own social media network MyLatinitas.com. Patricia Vonne also appeared … [Read more...]
SXSW Volunteers Trade Time for Pricey Festival Passes
Each Spring, Austin welcomes the international community of artists and industry professionals by hosting one of the biggest music, film, and interactive festivals in the world--South By Southwest (SXSW). Even with a year-round staff committed to building and delivering the conference and festival, there is simply not enough manpower to go around. With about 29,000 registrants, an event this large requires thousands of people to make it possible. In order to entice individuals to help out, SXSW … [Read more...]
