Historically, community newspapers have chosen to be limited in their scope of coverage. Self-imposed limitations have often included distribution area, cultural focus and/or personal perspective. In a sense, community newspapers have become “neighborhood” newspapers. The Austin Times alleviates historical boundaries and redefines the content and cosmetic appearance of a weekly newspaper while informing and entertaining readers from all of Austin’s diverse communities.

The Austin Times weekly newspaper seeks local, talented, insightful writers to cover a variety of stories about people and events. Send writing sample, resume, and cover letter to vgarza@theaustintimes.com. Writer will get some assistance generating story ideas. Must attend weekly editorial meeting. Minimum of one article per week.
